Safety & Reporting

KinPod is about meeting people in real life. That's the whole point — and it means safety matters more here than on a platform where nobody ever leaves the screen. Here's how we think about it, and what we ask of you.

If you are in immediate danger

Contact your local emergency services first. In the United States, call 911. Report to us afterward at hello@joinkinpod.com so we can act on the account.

What KinPod does

  • Requires members to be 18 or older.
  • Keeps private pods genuinely private — content, members, and messages are visible only to members.
  • Never shows your email address or private profile details to other members.
  • Makes check-ins manual, voluntary, and time-limited (they expire after 3 hours), so presence is never a permanent trail.
  • Never runs background location tracking or shares your device's coordinates.
  • Lets you mute a pod or community so it stops reaching you.
  • Reviews reports and removes people who make others unsafe.

What KinPod does not do

Being honest about our limits is part of keeping you safe. KinPod does not:

  • verify identities
  • run background checks or criminal-record checks
  • screen or vet organizers, hosts, or partner venues
  • supervise, attend, or moderate in-person meetups
  • guarantee anyone's behavior, or the safety of any place or activity

Treat everyone you meet on KinPod as someone you don't know yet — because you don't. That's true of any platform that connects strangers, and it's true here.

Meeting someone for the first time

  • Meet in a public place with other people around — a café, a park, a court, a coworking space.
  • Go to a group meetup before meeting anyone one-on-one.
  • Tell a friend where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to be back.
  • Arrange your own transportation there and back.
  • Keep your phone charged and with you.
  • Keep home address, workplace, financial details, and last name to yourself until trust is earned.
  • Trust your gut. You never owe anyone an explanation for leaving.

Money and scams

No legitimate KinPod member will ask you to send money, buy gift cards, invest in something, or move the conversation to a payment app. Requests like that are scams. Don't engage — stop replying and report it.

Presence and privacy at a place

Checking in tells people at that pod you're there right now, and it stops after 3 hours. You can clear it whenever you want. Seeing that someone participated somewhere is not an invitation to contact them, follow them, or show up when they're there. Using KinPod to track another person is a serious violation and results in removal.

Stepping away from someone

You never have to accept a connection request, and you can leave a pod or community at any time. You can also mute a pod or community in Settings → Notifications so it stops reaching you.

If someone is making you uncomfortable, you can block them from their profile. Blocking is immediate and private — they aren't told. A blocked member can't connect with you, follow you, or send you anything, and you stop being suggested to each other. You'll still both be able to attend shared public pods. Manage your list in Settings → Blocked members.

If blocking isn't enough, report them. Reporting brings the account to us directly, and we can restrict or remove it. We treat this as a priority, not a formality.

How to report

Open the member's profile, tap the safety menu, and choose Report member. Pick a reason — harassment, inappropriate content, hate, spam, a fake profile, a safety concern, or something else — and add anything that helps us understand what happened. It takes a few seconds and the person is never told.

Reporting and blocking are separate on purpose: report so we can act on the account, block if you also want them out of your experience straight away. You can do both.

You can also raise a concern with a community organizer, use in-app feedback for anything non-urgent, or email hello@joinkinpod.com if you can't reach the profile.

What happens after you report

  • We prioritize anything involving physical safety.
  • We review the account, the context, and any pattern of behavior.
  • We may remove content, warn, restrict, remove someone from a community, or permanently remove the account.
  • We keep the reporter's identity confidential from the person reported — they are never told who reported them.
  • Reporting someone does not block them, and blocking someone does not report them.
  • We'll tell you that we acted, though we may not be able to share the specifics.

We keep safety reports after review so we can spot repeat behavior. If either person deletes their KinPod account, we keep the report itself but remove the identifying details for that person after 180 days.

Reporting in good faith never counts against you. Deliberately false reports do.

If something happened offline

If you were harmed at or after a KinPod meetup, please contact local law enforcement. Then tell us at hello@joinkinpod.com. We'll act on the account and cooperate with valid legal requests.
